Stephen Ministry takes place in congregations using the Stephen Series system for one-to-one lay caring ministry. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers — called Stephen Ministers — to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. Stephen Ministers accompany individuals going through life events like grief, divorce, job loss, and any other difficult event. The Stephen Ministers listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The caring relationship lasts as long as the need for care exists.
